Guyzo (born Guy Gérard Ngono) is a Netherlands-based artist from Cameroon.

The Nature of His Work:

A Visual Synthesis of Worlds

At its core, Guyzo’s practice is about visualizing the potential for coexistence. Using the tools of juxtaposition, deconstruction, and reconstruction, he constructs a "third space"—a visual realm where the heritage of his Cameroonian roots and the influence of his life in the Netherlands, in Europe, are not kept separate but are instead broken down and woven back together. His art is a search for a new, unified language born from the tension and harmony between different realities. He stages an encounter where disparate visual styles, textures, and spatial planes must learn to inhabit the same canvas and interact.

The Intentions Behind His Art:

1.      To Reconcile Duality: A fundamental goal is to give form to the experience of living between cultures. He doesn't seek to resolve this duality by picking a side, but to build a bridge from it. The combination itself becomes a new form of wholeness.

2.      To Liberate Subjects from Context: By stripping away a figure's background or "freeing it from borders," he removes the anchor of a specific narrative. This act of liberation allows the subject to exist in a universal, timeless space, where its essential form and energy can resonate more powerfully and engage with its new environment in unexpected ways.

Guyzo further bridges art and design by transforming classical Cameroonians stools into contemporary functional sculptures, celebrating craftsmanship within a modern aesthetic. He is currently working on **phenomena of hybridization**.
